What is Orugari?
The definitive interactive map documenting the wealth, traditions, and true value of the African continent.
The Philosophy
For far too long, the story of Africa has been told through a lens of poverty. The core belief behind Orugari is simple: Africa is not poor by nature; it has been impoverished by extraction.
From the minerals that power the modern world to the ancient traditions, cuisines, and cultures that have shaped global history, true wealth originates here. Orugari is a digital platform built to document, celebrate, and reclaim the narrative of what truly belongs to the African people.
How It Works
We believe that accessing your heritage should be effortless. That is why we keep the current frictionless flow where you register and are immediately dropped into your personal dashboard. No complicated setups—just instant access to the map.
Once logged in, you will see a beautifully mapped continent. Click on any colored point to reveal a wealth of information explaining its local origin, its global impact, and its true value to Africa.
Orugari belongs to its citizens. We invite you to actively participate by plotting new geographical materials, cultural landmarks, local cuisines, and traditions directly onto the map for the world to see.
Your dashboard is your home base. It keeps track of everything you have contributed and shows you a live feed of the newest discoveries plotted by other citizens across the continent.
Heritage is meant to be discussed. On the Community Wall, you can endorse the entries of other citizens, leave comments, and engage in meaningful conversations about our shared wealth.
Platform Origins
The conceptual philosophy and original idea for Orugari was established by Professor Peter Kanyandago.
The digital platform, architecture, and interactive map were designed and built by Barry Harry, Founder, Chairman and CEO at Lyzfy Micro Systems SMC Ltd.
